This Sunday, April 22nd, marks the 48th Earth Day celebration, and the birth of the modern environmental movement in America.
A senator from Wisconsin created the movement in 1970 after witnessing the ravages of a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.
Earthday.org claims “Earth Day had reached into its current status as the largest secular observance in the world, celebrated by more than a billion people every year, and a day of action that changes human behavior and provokes policy changes.”
Here at the Powerline Group, we’re committed to honoring Earth Day by carrying on the tradition of reducing, reusing and recycling.
Most people think that recycled plastic bottles can just be recycled into new bottles, but did you know that plastic bottles can also be turned into t-shirts, sweaters, fleece jackets, sleeping bags, and more?
According to recycleyourplastics.org, “Nearly 28 percent of plastic bottles are recycled in the U.S. If everyone pitches in, we can do even better.”
Sunday is Earth Day!
Earth Day 2018
On Earth Day, enjoy the tonic of fresh air, contact with the soil, and companionship with nature! Walk through the woods in search of emerging wildflowers and green moss. Go outside, no matter the weather! pic.twitter.com/QBgqKfoBmN— Granny Moon (@GrannyMooninVA) April 19, 2018
So on April 22nd, keep the environment in mind and don’t toss that plastic bottle in the garbage – make sure you use a recycle bin to keep our earth and oceans clean. On Earth Day and every day, make a difference and go green!
