The Powerline Group is continuing its tradition of community outreach and helping those in need, and we can’t think of a better cause during these cold wintry days than United Way of Long Island’s Project Warmth, which has helped area residents with home heating costs for 23 years.
Heating costs are always on the rise, and some Long Island families struggle to keep this basic human necessity affordable. Our donation to Project Warmth will help thousands of working families pay their home heating bills.
The first major snowstorm has already hit Long Island and closed governments, schools and snarled daily travel. Imagine the fear of not staying warm on top of these other winter headaches.
The current storm is a combination of a rapid and rare plunge in barometric pressure that some weather forecasters are referring to as bombogenesis, or the so-called “bomb cyclone.” The term comes from the merging of two words: bomb and cyclogenesis, according to private forecaster AccuWeather.
Project Warmth’s Emergency Fuel Fund believes that “home energy is a basic human need and is equal to other essentials such as food, water, prescription medication, shelter and clothing.”
The Powerline Group is thrilled to donate to this worthy cause as we continue to support local charities and our communities in times of crisis. Just a small bit of assistance can make a huge difference in people’s lives.
